Preschool and Pre-K Basics:
Staff to child ratio: 1:10, with a maximum of 20 children in a classroom
Potty training: Grandma's Place does not have a potty-training requirement for preschool, so if your child is still mastering bathrooming and is 3 years old, they will still qualify for our preschool program.
Schedule: In Preschool, being a part of our daily routine is very important! We ask that families do their best to have children into school by 9 am so they can fully participate in the day. Children will have many opportunities to make choices as they learn about math, science, literacy, art, music, and their peers.

What learning looks like in our room:
In our room, we use Creative Curriculum. Under this format, teachers choose a theme based on student interests. After a theme has been selected, we plan activities that meet our objectives for students and fit in the theme. Academic goals are embedded into these themes through circle time, classroom centers, and small group time. If we know that a majority of students are working to master their letter recognition, we embed that throughout our day. However, if we see that one student needs extra support with a skill, or has already mastered what we’re currently working on, we make adjustments to ensure that each child’s needs are being met.
Circle time is the part of our day where structured group learning happens. It follows a routine that is intended to welcome each child to school for the day and give students essential information about the classroom. It is important that your child arrives on time for circle time so they are able to be an actively engaged participant in the school day.
